Electric Rates Increasing for Wallingford Residents: Report
The Public Utilities Commission approved a new three-year rate plan this week.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The Public Utilities Commission approved a new three-year rate plan Tuesday night that increases electric rates in Wallingford, beginning July 1, 2017, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports that residents will pay 9.8 percent more in 2017-18 compared to the current rate with a 13-percent increase and 8.4 percent increase (over the current rate) in the following two years.
Small commercial customers will see an 11.2 percent increase in 2017-18, while the rate increases 8.2 percent for large commercial customers and 7.9 percent for industrial customers, according to the Record-Journal.

Overall, Wallingford Electric customers will be paying 8.7 percent more than they do now at the end of the three-year plan, according to the New Haven Register.
Luther Turmelle of the Register reports that under the municipal utility’s current rates, the average customer pays $99.31 per month based upon 750 kilowatt hours of electricity used and that amount will increase to $108.96 per month (starting July 1) in 2017-18.
