Energy Company Expanding Facility In Wallingford

A Norwegian-based renewable energy company is expanding its facility in Wallingford, which its officials said is an "important milestone."

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Norwegian-based renewable energy company is expanding its manufacturing facility in Wallingford, officials announced this week.

Nel ASA, which was founded in 1927 and is based in Oslo, has taken the “final investment decision” to expand the production capacity at its PEM electrolyser manufacturing facility in Wallingford. The expansion will bring annual production capacity “towards 500 MW in 2025,” according to a news release.

“This is an important milestone for Nel,” Nel’s CEO Håkon Volldal said in a news release. “With this expansion, we will increase PEM production capacity substantially and simultaneously reduce stack cost and improve stack efficiency.”
