Fire Destroys Home In Wallingford
Crews responded to a heavily involved fire that included explosions Tuesday morning in Wallingford.
WALLINGFORD, CT — A two-alarm fire destroyed a home in Wallingford on Tuesday morning. Crews responded to the fire on Twin Oak Farm Road at about 8:35 a.m. on the report of a structure fire. The first-arriving crews found the 1.5 story Cape Cod-style home well-involved in fire, according to officials.
“A defensive operation was set up with the use of a portable blitz fire gun and two 1 3/4 handlines,” fire officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Fire was reported under control in 30 minutes. Mutual aid from Meriden for Rapid Intervention Team.”
The severity of the fire prevented firefighters from conducting an interior search and explosions were also coming from the home, according to NBC Connecticut.

FOX 61 reports officials were told by a relative who lives next door that no one was inside the home at the time of the fire, but there may have been some animals. Wallingford Deputy Fire Chief Joe Czentnar said propane tanks outside of the home could have been the source of the explosions.
There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported, officials said. The fire is under investigation by the Wallingford Fire Marshal’s Office.
