Full-Day Kindergarten Could Become Reality in Wallingford
The Board of Education will discuss implementing full-day kindergarten and enhancing preschool after receiving mayor's proposed budget.

Full-day kindergarten could become a reality in Wallingford if the Board of Education determines it is a top priority for the district, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports that while Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. reduced the school board’s requested budget increase of 4.88 percent to a 2.92 percent increase in his budget proposal Wednesday, school officials said there should be enough to fund full-day kindergarten and enhance the pre-k program.
If the mayor’s proposed budget is approved, the Board of Education will have an operating budget of $96,902,187 and it needed a 2.54 percent increase for its sustained services so it can now consider strategic plan items for implementation next year, according to the Record-Journal.
