Gas Station Robbery Suspect Arrested: Wallingford Police

The man was taken into custody in East Haven and is also accused of robbing a gas station and shoplifting in North Haven.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A 32-year-old man has been charged with robbing a gas station in Wallingford after being taken into custody in East Haven on Tuesday. North Haven Police also assisted with the arrest after the man was suspected of robbing a gas station and shoplifting in that town, according to Wallingford Police.

At about 8:10 a.m. on March 25, a robbery was reported at the Parkway Mobil gas station/convenience store located at 1001 North Colony Road in Wallingford, according to Lt. Michael Colavolpe.

The suspect implied he had a firearm and demanded money from the store clerk, who complied with the suspect’s demands and gave the suspect a few hundred dollars, according to Colavolpe.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing camouflage pants and a dark jacket. He fled the scene in a dark colored Kia Rio sedan.

Colavolpe said that on March 26, the North Haven Police Department investigated a robbery at a gas station in their town. The suspect and vehicle description was similar to that involved in the Wallingford robbery.

With the assistance of North Haven Police, the suspect was identified as 32-year-old Bradford John, whose last known address is Blakeslee Street in Bristol, according to Colavolpe.

“The North Haven Police Department recently investigated a shoplifting involving John and a North Haven Police Officer was able to identify him through surveillance photos as being responsible for the robbery in Wallingford,” Colavolpe said in a press release. “North Haven Police obtained an arrest warrant for John related to the shoplifting incident.

“On March 28, with the assistance of the East Haven Police Department, John was located in their town and was taken into custody for the North Haven arrest warrant. As a result of the identification made by the North Haven Officer and further investigative leads, Wallingford Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for John.”

After being processed by North Haven for the shoplifting charges, John was taken into custody by Wallingford Detectives.

He was charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny for the robbery in Wallingford. John is being held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday, March 29.

The charges for the North Haven incidents weren’t immediately known.
