Gaylord Loans Ventilators to Assist in COVID-19 Crisis

Wallingford-based rehabilitation system loans four ventilators to Hartford Healthcare

Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is helping Connecticut’s healthcare community in the fight against Coronavirus disease by lending four ventilators to Hartford Healthcare for use by their most critical patients.

Lorraine Cullen, MS, RRT, RRT-ACCS, Director of Respiratory and Radiology Services, said that Gaylord’s nearly 120-year history of providing pulmonary care – first as a tuberculosis sanitorium and in recent decades as a leader in ventilator weaning – has well-prepared the hospital to assist during this crisis.

“We’re glad to help our partners in care, Hartford Healthcare, and appreciate everything they’re doing on the front lines,” Cullen said. “We’re in this together for the health of our community.”

Cullen noted that the transfer of the four ventilators will not affect the number of vent patients that Gaylord will be able to treat.
