Wallingford Woman Carjacked in Hamden
A Wallingford woman and her boyfriend were carjacked overnight in Hamden and the search for the suspect ended following a crash in Fairfield

The search for a suspect in an overnight carjacking in Hamden ended in Fairfield and Connecticut State Police have the man in custody, according to WTNH News 8.
Hamden Police responded to a local service station around 2:30 a.m. this morning on the report of a carjacking involving a 25-year-old Wallingford woman and her 26-year-old boyfriend, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the couple was parked on Fairview Avenue, in the vicinity of Second Street, and the female victim advised officers that an individual, described as a black male, tall, thin build and wearing a sweatshirt, pulled her out of the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The individual subsequently entered her vehicle, which fled northbound on Fairview Avenue and ran over the woman’s foot, according to Smith.
Her boyfriend reported that he was also extracted from the vehicle by a second individual.

Hamden Police had tracked the female victim’s cell phone, which was left inside of the vehicle. The phone was tracked to a rest area, located on Route 15 in Orange, according to Smith.
Hamden Police notified the Connecticut State Police of the vehicle’s location.
Moments later the stolen vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle accident, crashing into a guardrail in the area of Exit 46 on Route 15.
WTNH News 8 reports the suspect ran into the woods and State Police search for him for a couple of hours.
State Police later encountered an individual, who had sustained injuries, walking northbound on Route 15, according to Smith.
Hamden Police are continuing the investigation.
The stolen vehicle was seized and transported to Hamden Police Headquarters, according to Smith.
The Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Division and Officer Tim Brown are conducting the carjacking investigation.
