Man Accused of Assaulting Woman, Threatening to Kill Nurse: Wallingford Police

Police say the man allegedly beat the woman and confined her to a single room throughout the night and later threatened a visiting nurse.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford man is accused of beating a woman and confining her to a single room throughout the night and then threatened to kill a visiting nurse who pulled the victim out of the house, according to police.

Wallingford Police responded to the residence on Nov. 5 after receiving a 911 call from a visiting nurse regarding a female who had been beaten throughout the night by a man, later identified as 43-year-old Michael Moccio, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.

The nurse told police that she arrived at the residence and noticed bruising to the victim’s face. As she was leaving, she heard a commotion between the two and then heard the victim yell for help, according to Bradley.

The nurse returned and pulled the victim out of the house. As she was calling 911 for help, Moccio allegedly ran out and got into a vehicle while threatening to kill the nurse, according to Bradley.

Moccio sped off and nearly hit the nurse with the vehicle, Bradley said.

The victim, who had bruising to her face and a cut on her ear told police that she was confined to a single room all night by Moccio. She also said she was threatened and hit repeatedly by Moccio. She was ordered to put make-up on in the morning to cover the bruising during the nurse’s visit, according to Bradley.

Wallingford Police secured an arrest warrant for Moccio, but he wasn’t located. The victim called 911 later in the day on Nov. 5 and during the early morning hours of Nov. 6 because it was believed that Moccio was attempting to break into the residence, according to Bradley.

Moccio called Wallingford Police on Nov. 8 and told police that he would not be turning himself in, Bradley said.

Moccio was subsequently located in New Britain on Nov. 9 where he was taken into custody and arrested.

Moccio was charged with violation of a protective order, first-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, possession of narcotics and second-degree threatening. He was released after posting a $25,000 court-set bond and is due to appear in court on Nov. 10.

Bradley said Moccio has another case pending from an assault to the same victim that occurred on July 18, 2016. As a result of that incident, Moccio was charged with third-degree strangulation, third-degree assault and breach of peace.
