Man Charged with Stealing from Wallingford Couple in Eversource Scam

The man is accused of scamming the residents out of $700 while posing as an Eversource employee.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Police have charged a 24-year-old Hartford man with stealing $700 from a local couple in a scam in which he allegedly posed as an Eversource Energy employee, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports Javier Fontana, of 84 Wall Street, Hartford, was recently arrested in connection to the January incident.

Fontana is accused of telling the couple he would shut off their service within an hour if they didn’t wire him the $700 balance on their gas bill, according to the Record-Journal.
