Man Found with Marijuana, ‘Molly’ Outside Oakdale Theatre: Wallingford Police

The Oakdale Theatre hosted an Electronic Dance Music show for its first event since a double-homicide and had an increased police presence.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Meriden man faces drug charges after police say he was found in the possession of marijuana and 13 capsules of MDMA, commonly referred to as “Molly,” on his way to the Oakdale Theatre on Friday night.

The Wallingford Police Department Patrol Division was actively maintaining a presence outside of the Oakdale Theatre on Friday night. The Oakdale was hosting its first event since the double-homicide shooting on Dec. 30 that killed Travis Ward, 31, and Jacquan Graves, 20, both of New Haven.

At about 10:08 p.m. on Jan. 27, patrol units made a motor vehicle stop for a violation near the front entrance of the Oakdale Theatre, located at 95 South Turnpike Road, according to Sgt. James Cifarelli.

Cifarelli said the occupants of the vehicle were on their way to the Oakdale Theatre for the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) show.

During the traffic stop, officers immediately smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle, according to Cifarelli.

A search of the vehicle was conducted with the assistance of the Wallingford Police Department K-9 Unit.

Inside the vehicle, police recovered 13 capsules of MDMA, or “Molly,” along with 13.7 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Cifarelli.

Andrew Dargon, 28, of Meriden, was arrested on a charge of possession of narcotics. He was also found to have two active arrest warrants and was charged with two counts of violation of probation.

Dargon was released on a total of $42,000 in bonds and was issued a court date of Feb. 10.
