Man Punches Wal-Mart Employee, Steals Work Boots: Wallingford Police

Police apprehended the man following a short foot chase through the wooded area near the store.

Wallingford Police arrested a Cheshire man on several charges after he allegedly stole a pair of work boots from Wal-Mart and punched an employee who tried to stop him.

The New Haven Register reports police apprehended Shane O’Reilly, 26, of Robin Court in Cheshire, after a short foot chase through the wooded area near the store on North Colony Road on Wednesday night.

O’Reilly, who had been caught shoplifting at the same Wal-Mart in 2012 and was told to never come back, allegedly put on a pair of work boots worth $75 and put the shoes he was wearing in the box and tried to leave the store without paying, according to the Register.

Police responded to the store at about 10:30 p.m. and O’Reilly allegedly refused an officer’s command to stop and was eventually subdued after a brief physical struggle.
