Man Stole $97K In Items From Wallingford Business: Police
The man is accused of stealing nearly $97,000 worth of items from a Wallingford business in a string of burglaries, according to police.
WALLINGFORD, CT — A New Britain man has been arrested in connection with the theft of nearly $97,000 worth of items from a Wallingford business in a string of burglaries, according to police.
Daniel Meyer, 32, was arrested July 29 on a warrant following a lengthy investigation into several thefts at E&J Electric, 53 North Plains Industrial Rd., that happened between February and May, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques.
Police determined that equipment was stolen from E&J Electric on five separate occasions – Feb. 15, Feb. 23, April 12, April 24, and May 5 – for a total loss of $96,954, according to Jaques.

Jaques said the typical items stolen in each incident were copper wire coils and chainsaws that were in locked storage compartments on each vehicle in the company’s fleet. At the time of each theft, the vehicles were parked in the company parking lot that was fenced in, according to Jaques.
Meyer was developed as the suspect in all five thefts and police obtained a warrant for his arrest, Jaques said. Meyer was also arrested by several other police departments in connection with similar thefts in other towns, according to Jaques.

Meyer was charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree larceny by ongoing scheme. He was held in lieu of a $30,000 bond with a court date of Sept. 16.
