Man, Woman Accused of Using Counterfeit Gift Cards in Wallingford

Two people from New York are accused of using counterfeit American Express gift cards re-encoded with stolen credit card information in Wallingford, according to NBC Connecticut.
NBC reports that Michael Smith Jr., 26, and Cheyenne Sharpe, 24, raised suspicions when they tried to use one of the cards at a Cumberland Farms gas station on North Colony Road earlier this month.
Police searched their car and found thousands of dollars worth of items purchased with more than dozen counterfeit cards at department stores around the state, according to NBC.
