Massachusetts Police Officer's Death Hits Home for Wallingford Police Department
Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr., who was shot and killed in the line of duty, was the brother-in-law of a veteran of the Wallingford PD.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The death of Massachusetts Police Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr., who was shot and killed during a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Auburn, Mass., has impacted all law enforcement families, but it particularly hits home for the Wallingford Police Department.
Tarentino, 42, was the brother-in-law of Carm Ticino, a 30-year veteran of the Wallingford Police Department, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports Wallingford Police Chief William J. Wright and 30 of his officers will be traveling to attend Tarentino’s funeral services.

The wake is being held today and Tarentino’s funeral is being held on Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church with burial to follow at Greenville Baptist Church Cemetery in the Rochdale section of Leicester.

Tarentino was shot during a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Auburn, Mass. and later died at UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester after sustaining life threatening injuries at the scene.
Jorge Zambrano, 35, Worcester, who was accused of shooting and killing Officer Tarentino, was killed during an extended standoff that took place at an apartment in Oxford, only miles away from Tarentino's shooting.
A memorial fund has been established for the fallen officer, a Tewksbury native and veteran of both the Auburn and Leicester police departments.
