Police say the men were attempting to buy gift cards with more than a dozen fraudulent credit cards at Walmart.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Two New York men were arrested last week after police say they were found to be in the possession of 13 fraudulent credit cards at Walmart in Wallingford. At about 12 noon on March 1, Wallingford Police responded to Walmart on the report of two men engaging in “suspicious activity” in the self-checkout line, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.

Bradley said the men were swiping numerous credit cards to buy gift cards, which she said is an “activity commonly associated with credit card fraud.”

Arriving officers identified the men as Deshawn Reid, 25, and Tariq Jamel Shaheed, 26, both of Brooklyn, New York. They were found to be in possession of 13 fraudulent credit cards, according to Bradley.
