More Coronavirus Cases Confirmed At Wallingford Schools
Officials have notified families of several confirmed cases of the coronavirus from people associated with multiple schools in the district.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Several people associated with the Wallingford Public School District have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to officials.
The district notified families over the weekend of several confirmed cases of COVID-19 with people associated with multiple schools.
On Oct. 9, the district was notified that people associated with Cook Hill Elementary School, Moran Middle School and Lyman Hall High School tested positive for the coronavirus.

“In working with the Wallingford Health Department, it was determined that the COVID-19 confirmed cases at Moran Middle School and Lyman Hall High School were in close contact with one or more people while in a school setting,” according to a joint statement from Superintendent of Schools Salvatore Menzo, Wallingford Director of Health Stephen Civitelli and Nurse Coordinator Kathy Neelon. “The confirmed case at Cook Hill Elementary School was not determined to be in close contact with anyone in the school.
“The Wallingford Public School District, in collaboration with the Wallingford Health Department, initiated a case investigation at Moran Middle School and Lyman Hall High School and contact tracing activities to identify all individuals who may have been in close contact with the case. All individuals identified as close contacts have already been notified by the building administration or the school nurse.”

Then on Saturday, families were notified that two people associated Moses Y. Beach Elementary School and Sheehan High School tested positive for the coronavirus.
“In working with the Wallingford Health Department, it was determined that the COVID-19 confirmed case was in close contact with one or more people while in a school setting,” the statement reads. “The Wallingford Public School District, in collaboration with the Wallingford Health Department, initiated a case investigation at Moses Y. Beach Elementary School and Mark T. Sheehan High School contact tracing activities to identify all individuals who may have been in close contact with the case. All individuals identified as close contacts have already been notified by the building administration or the school nurse.”
On Sunday night, families were notified that two people associated with the school district from James H. Moran Middle School and Sheehan High School have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The statement said officials determined that “the COVID-19 confirmed case was in close contact with one or more people while in a school setting.” Contact tracing investigations were launched and everyone identified as “close contacts have already been notified by the building administration or the school nurse,” according to the statement.
“The Wallingford Public School District and Wallingford Health Department will continue to work cooperatively to ensure that all Contacts have information on how to protect themselves and others,” the statement said. “Information related to case investigations is confidential and private health information will not be disclosed by the Wallingford Public School District and Wallingford Health Department.
“The Wallingford Public School District and Wallingford Health Department are committed to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. We continue to proactively monitor illness of students and staff, apply cleaning protocols, and social distancing practices. We will continue to review the circumstances of this case and will make any necessary adjustments in our plans.
“The safety of our community is our priority. School officials are monitoring this situation and will continue to keep you informed of any changes or additional information.”
