New Communication Specialist Hired In Wallingford
The newly created position was announced on Monday.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Former Wallingford Town Councilor John J. Sullivan has been named the town’s new communication specialist, Mayor Vincent Cervoni announced Monday.
Cervoni said in a news release that the newly created part-time position will “benefit town residents by keeping them informed of the town's regular activities.”
The Communication Specialist position is “responsible for the development, oversight and implementation of communication strategies that foster and enhance the community's engagement with its local government,” according to the news release.

“The position will be responsible for facilitating Town communication initiatives spanning from daily public relations, social media management and content creation work to larger strategic oversight of digital transformation projects for various Town departments,” the news release states.
Sullivan, lifelong Wallingford resident, retired in 2021 from AT&T as Area Manager of Methods and Process. In that role, Sullivan served as the Vice-President's liaison between labor and management.

Sullivan also led AT&T's Attendance Management Program for the Midwest Region and DirecTV, as well as Contingency Planning and Business Continuity Planning. Sullivan was AT&T's Political Action Committee Chair for the state of Connecticut for three years prior to his retirement, according to the news release.
Locally, Sullivan served on the Town Council for eight years and is currently Chair of the Wallingford Parks and Recreation Commission.
