New Principal Named In Wallingford

The Wallingford Board of Education approved the hiring on Monday night.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Kristin Vollero will be the next principal at Pond Hill Elementary School after being appointed by the Wallingford Board of Education on Monday night. Vollero will succeed Danielle Bellizzi, who was appointed last month as the school district's next Assistant Superintendent for Personnel. Bellizzi will replace Cindy Lavalette, who is retiring after 33 years with the Wallingford school district.

Bollero comes to the Wallingford school district from A. L. Troup School in New Haven where she served as the administrative intern since 2015. Prior to her work in administration, Vollero was an instructional coach in New Haven coaching teachers in grades K-8 on best instructional practices, according to Lavalette. She also taught in North Haven from 2000-2013, teaching second grade for four years and then sixth-grade language arts for eight years.

“We look forward to Kristin joining us in Wallingford,” Lavalette said in an email to parents. “Throughout the interview process her deep understanding of instructional practices that lead to all students achieving, mixed with her thoughtful responses that showed genuine care and respect for students, families and staff, made her stand out amongst the candidate pool.”
