No Swimming at Wharton Brook Today

It's not just the cold, the state DEEP announces the swimming area is closed due to water quality.

Anyone wishing to brave the cold weather and go for a swim, will not be able to do so at Wharton Brook State Park today.

The swimming area is closed on Tuesday due to a high bacteria count in the water, according to the state DEEP.

The water quality is tested by DEEP at state park beaches to ensure that it is safe for swimming. Samples are collected by DEEP staff and are analyzed at the Department of Public Health Lab. Local health departments are responsible for sampling municipal swimming areas.
