Cheryl Marie Szetela Wahl, PhD, 47, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 14, 2015, after a brave and courageous fight against stage 4 colorectal cancer, which she was diagnosed with February 8, 2011.
Cheryl is survived by her son Christopher Jacob Martins of West Palm Beach, Florida and her daughter Jessica Marie Szetela of Wallingford and currently attending the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, studying Environmental Science. She is also survived by her mother Linda Welton Peruta and her husband Daniel J. Peruta of Meriden; and her father Timothy G. Wahl and his wife Beth Wahl of Chester; her brothers Timothy D. Wahl, Dean Peruta and Brandon Lindahl; her sisters Stephanie Price, Carolyn Peruta, Kristin Lindahl and Courtney Weiss; four nephews Tyler and Daniel Wahl, Isaiah and David Price; and two nieces Delilah and Molly Peruta; and numerous cousins.

Cheryl was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and completed her post graduate work at City University in NYC. She has been an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University for 10 years and also Post University.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Sunday, December 20, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. A brief memorial service will be held at 4 p.m.

The agency provides grants to assist cancer patients with medication costs during their cancer journey.
