Besides his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his devoted children, Kelly McCabe Bibisi of Wallingford and twins, Jimmy McCabe of Meriden and Mary McCabe of Cromwell. “Poppy” shared a very special bond with his loving grandchildren, Meagan and Molly Bibisi whom he adored.
Jim’s love of his Irish heritage – and indeed all things Irish - was contagious. He was an active member of the New Haven Gaelic Football and Hurling Club and Irish American Community Center, being named “Man of the Year” in 1999 for his accomplishments in promoting Irish culture and traditions. In later years he developed a great interest and knowledge of Irish genealogy, becoming a skilled genealogist for the Irish community.
