Obituary: James W. Blasczyk, 65, of Wallingford

He was a successful electrical engineer for Otis Elevator & Pitney Bowes. He could build and fix anything. He was a longtime coach for WYSL.

James W. Blasczyk, 65, of Wallingford, died Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Masonicare Health Center after a long battle with dementia. He was the beloved husband of Carol Ann (Villecco) Blasczyk of 42 years.

He was born January 20, 1955, a son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Perry) Blasczyk. Jim graduated from the University of New Haven as a 4-year varsity tennis player. He was a successful electrical engineer for Otis Elevator and Pitney Bowes. He could build and fix anything. Jim loved his family and was a cherished Poppy. He loved to play golf and enjoyed Saturday morning breakfast with the soccer guys. He spent many years coaching for the WYSL and was a committee member of the T.W.I.S.T Tournament. When he wasn’t on the soccer field, he enjoyed vacationing with his family at Walt Disney World. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Carol Ann, he is survived by his daughter, Kristen Plunske and her husband Jonathan; his son, Brian Blasczyk and his wife Dana; his daughter, Melissa Ruggiero and her husband Andrew; and his grandchildren, Devyn and Jaxson Plunske, Leila and Ellery Blasczyk and Elizabeth and Emily Ruggiero. Also, his brother Ronnie Blasczyk and wife Debbie, brother in law Robert Villecco and wife Barbara, sister in law Diana Morin and her husband Gary (deceased) and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother Stanley Blasczyk.
