For 36 years, Lauren taught many the arts of knitting, crocheting, spinning, and many other skills, instilling in all who came to her store the love of making-it-themselves. Lauren also loved her animals and the outdoors and was able to combine all her passions as a department chairperson at the Durham Fair for many years.
She was predeceased by her father, Roger Scarpa, and her mother, Helen Nichols Scarpa, and her sister, Megan Lee Scarpa. She is survived by her longtime love Brian Lyman, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. But Lauren’s friends were considered her immediate family and the ones with which she shared so much.
