Obituary: Luigi Distefano, 73, of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Luigi Distefano, 73, of Wallingford, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Nicolanna “Lina” (Gulino) Distefano.

Luigi was born in Italy and raised in Ragusa, Sicily. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1989 and settled in Wallingford.

In addition to his wife Lina, he is survived by his son Rosario Distefano, daughter-in-law Satie Distefano, son Alberto Distefano and his fiancée Raquel Pinto, daughter Stefania Simonetti and son-in-law, Daniel Simonetti; his grandchildren, Cristian, Alexavier, and Isabelle Distefano, and Sienna Simonetti; his siblings, Alfonso Distefano and his wife Lidia, and Angela Mirabella and her husband Giovanni; his in-laws, Teresa (Mrs. Biagio) Gulino, and Nunziatina Cosentino and her husband Biagio; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter Simona Distefano.

Luigi’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, January 12, from 5 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am directly at Most Holy Trinity Church.

Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. COVID precautions will be followed and masks required at all services.
