Maureen M. (Matthews) Schoen Joos, 85, of Wallingford, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Regency House in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Leonard Schoen.
She was born in New Haven, CT, September 16, 1931, a daughter of the late James and Claire (Knudsen) Matthews and was a 1949 graduate of West Haven H.S. She raised her family in Wallingford, CT, later living in both Durham and Meriden, CT.

She was employed by Meriden-Wallingford Hospital as a purchasing agent until her retirement in 1996. At that time, she moved to Ocala, FL, where she volunteered for several years at Munroe Regional Medical Center. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, dining out and playing cards and dominoes with friends, including Bernice Hasinec.
She is survived by her six children, Kathleen (and Ron) McGlinchey of Lamoine, ME, David (and Melinda) Schoen of Wallingford, CT, Patricia (and Ken) Wotton of Matthews, NC, Pamela (and Kevin) Parker of West Haven, CT, Kevin (and Cheryl) Schoen of Middletown, RI, Tracy (and Derek) Wilbur of Meriden, CT; her grandchildren Jennifer Gingras, Michael McGlinchey, Jessica Schoen, Maureen Krajeski, Victor Sperrazza, Stephanie Gawel, Jesse Wotton, Kerri-anne Moore, David Parker, Michelle Parker, Sara Bettencourt, Chris Schoen, Brian Hall, Mark Chase, Nicole Stec and Thomas Pisani; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother Brian (and Cathie) Matthews of Simsbury, CT.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Schoen, and by her parents.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, CT.
A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, 267 Finch Avenue, Meriden, CT, 06451.
