Obituary: Robert M. Douglas, 42, Of Wallingford
Robert, a talented sous-chef, found peace in landscaping. He played baseball & football and later channeled his passion as a baseball coach.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Robert M. Douglas, 42, of Wallingford, passed away unexpectedly October 7, 2021 at MidState Medical Center.
He was born in New Haven on February 7, 1979, a son of Cheryl (Spinelli) Ulstad of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Merrill Douglas of Middletown, CT.
Robert was a talented sous-chef and found peace in landscaping. His hobbies included hiking and fishing. He loved sports, especially when it came to his two favorite teams, the New York Yankees and Giants. As a child, he played baseball and football and later channeled his passion as a baseball coach.
What he enjoyed most, was being an uncle. Uncle Bob was a staple at every holiday. No matter what his nieces and nephews were doing, you could be sure to find Uncle Bob in the mix.
In addition to his mother, Cheryl, and his father Merrill, he is survived by his sisters, Tina MacDonald (John) of Terre Haute, Indiana, Angela Douglas of Wallingford, Connecticut and Crystal Bernardes (Michael) of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; step brothers and sister; his step father, Gary Ulstad; his step mother, Kathy Douglas; and many special nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and close friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 1:45 p.m. during visiting hours. Interment will be private, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
