Obituary: Thomas R. Rice, 75, of Wallingford
Tommy worked as a machine operator at Connecticut Container and was a member of the Local 745 United Paperworkers International Union.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Thomas R. Rice, 75, of Wallingford, passed away January 18, 2021 at Hartford Hospital.
He was born in New Haven on June 25, 1945, a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Reed) Rice.
Tommy was a graduate of East Haven High School, Class of 1963.
He worked as a machine operator at Connecticut Container for over 30 years and was a member of the Local 745 United Paperworkers International Union, retiring in 2010.

He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville and enjoyed helping with the church collection, activities and the annual carnival.
Tommy was an avid sports enthusiast and was a lifelong New York Yankees, New York Giants, New York Rangers and the Boston Celtics fan.

He would walk into a room and know the stats of the last game and date/time of the next one. He was an enthusiastic gardener and took great pride in growing his own vegetables.
Tommy was very devoted to his family and would always find a way to attend his nieces and nephew’s baseball games, soccer games, recitals, birthdays, graduations, family gatherings and Sunday Funday. He was so loved and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his sister, Rosemary Kaliscak; his sister-in-law Anne Rice; his nieces and nephews, Martin Adamo, Chris and Nancy Adamo, Steven Adamo, Jeannine Mollica and Joe DiFiore, Kathleen Kaliscak and Kenneth Lignelli, Suzanne Blanchard; and his beloved great nieces and nephews, Jaime, Joshua, Kailey, Milo, Stella and Lucas. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Patricia Adamo, Harold Rice, Robert Rice, Richard Rice, Edward Rice, Allan Rice, Carol Rice and William Rice.
Tommy’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 11 am until 12:30 pm when his funeral procession will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm.
