Obituary: Virginia 'Cookie' Nicolella Buono, 70, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From North Haven Funeral Home) Virginia “Cookie” Nicolella Buono, 70, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021 at MidState Medical Center, Meriden with her family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of the late William “Billy” Buono Sr. Cookie was born in New Haven on October 25, 1950 and was the daughter of the late John R. and Virginia Geraci Nicolella.

She had worked for the Wallingford School System, the Oakdale Theater and later for Chartwells Food Service at Quinnipiac University.

Cookie enjoyed watching soap operas and movies (especially The Godfather), taking frequent trips to the casinos, and loved dogs.

Mother of William (Marla) Buono Jr., John (Heather) Buono and Craig Buono. Grandmother of Kaci Buono, William Buono III and Sophia Buono. Sister of Susan Carrano, Robert (Patricia) Nicolella, Sr. and the late John and Clarence “Junior” Testa.

Also survived by nieces, nephews and her loving companions, her dogs Ollie and Zuko.
