Obituary: William F. Bone, 71, of Wallingford
William, a devoted husband, father and animal lover, worked as a dedicated Registered Nurse at numerous facilities for over 40 years.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) William F. Bone, 71, of Wallingford, died Saturday, November 14, 2020, at MidState Medical Center of respiratory failure due to COVID. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Piatkowski) Bone.
They had been inseparable since their first date in June of 1981.
William was born in New Haven, October 7, 1949, the second of four children of the late Herman and Gloria (Girardi) Bone Jr. William was a true family man, and spent as much time with his family as he could.

William, with the help of his daughter and uncle, traced his genealogy back to the Revolutionary War; and became a member of the Sons of the American Revolution in 2008.
William grew up as a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox; and took pleasure in watching them, in person, advance to the World Series in 2013, with his daughter, Miranda, by his side.

William was a very spiritual person, and would often talk to his daughter, Rebecca, about this so she could find comfort and understanding with her own parenting techniques. William was an animal lover and devoted most of his time to his dog, Cash (a lab/ German Shepherd mix).
William and his daughter, Alexa (who is a certified dog trainer), began to work together to train his dog. William and Kathleen loved to travel and often chose very unique destinations during the holiday season, such as Dominica, Belize, and St Johns USVI.
William joined the Army in 1970 as a medical corpsman during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1976; serving the last five of his six years in the Army Reserves.
William was a gentle, nurturing soul and always wanted to be a nurse and help people. William received his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Southern Connecticut State University in 1976. William started his nursing career at Yale New Haven Hospital in 1976 on the ICU floor.
From there, William would spend the next 40 years working at various facilities such as: Hartford Hospital, Cheshire Convalescent Center, Rocky Hill Veteran’s Hospital, and Pratt and Whitney.
William was a registered nurse who worked on the pediatric floor and orthopedic floor, in addition to the ICU floor during the course of his career.
In 2000, William accepted a position at UCONN Healthcare on the psych floor, and remained there until he retired in 2015. Once he was retired, William worked part time at Choate Rosemary Hall.
William was a very proud and loyal friend of Bill W. since November 23, 1993, where he was very active in leading local meetings, volunteering, and sponsoring.
William is predeceased by his brother, Herman (Buddy) Bone III, and sister, Patricia DePonte.
In addition to his wife of 37 years, Kathleen, he is survived by his three daughters: Miranda Baxter (Robert) of Pensacola, Fl; Rebecca Palermo (Aaron) of Marlborough, Ct; and Alexa Bone of Bethany, Ct.
William is also survived by three granddaughters: Arianna Palermo, Ramona Palermo, and Sonja Palermo. William is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Vitale of East Haven, Ct; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Due to the pandemic, funeral services will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations, or gifts the family is asking everyone to root for the Boston Red Sox during the 2021 season.
