Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle Identified: Wallingford Police

The pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle last week in Wallingford, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Meriden woman has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle last week in Wallingford, police said in an update on Tuesday.

Police responded to Old Colony Road around 9 p.m. on Aug. 22 after a pedestrian had been struck. Arriving officers found a woman with severe injuries, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Jaques said.

The woman has been identified as 60-year-old Dawn Darcey, Jaques said on Tuesday.

Jaques said the investigation is still ongoing and no one was criminally charged in connection with the accident.

An initial investigation found that a 2020 Mazda CX-30 was traveling southbound on Old Colony Road when the driver struck a pedestrian who was in a dimly lit section of the southbound travel lane, Jaques said at the time. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Jaques said speed didn’t seem to a factor in the collision, and the driver wasn’t suspected to be under the influence of any drug or alcohol.
