Police Cracking Down On Distracted Driving In Wallingford

Police will have additional patrols targeting distracted drivers over the next few weeks, according to officials.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Police will be making “concerted efforts to detect and enforce” various distracted driving laws throughout the month of April, according to officials.

The laws include using a hand-held cell phone while driving a vehicle, according to police.

Police said the enforcement efforts will take place on local and state roadways within Wallingford.

“Funding for this effort has been made available by the police department’s participation in a State of Connecticut Department of Transportation Highway Safety Grant,” police wrote in a news release. “This funding supports the staffing necessary to allow Wallingford Police to dedicate time and resources with the ultimate goal of reducing traffic accident-related deaths, injuries and property damage.”
