Police Seize Marijuana, $1.2K In Cash During Bust: Wallingford PD

A man was found to be in the possession of 1.5 pounds of marijuana, cash, marijuana-laced brownies and rice crispy treats, police said.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Middletown man faces several charges after he was found to be in the possession of more than 1.5 pounds of marijuana, $1,200 in cash and other items in a Wallingford parking lot on Tuesday, according to police. Wallingford Police received a complaint on Dec. 5 about a vehicle in the parking lot of 29 Toelles Road having a strong odor of marijuana coming from it, according to Lt. Michael Colavolpe.

Arriving officers saw two people in the vehicle along with a large bag containing marijuana in plain view on the backseat, according to Colavolpe. The bag was later determined to weigh half of a pound. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Trent Holmes, 25, of George Street in Middletown. Colavolpe said after investigation, the second occupant was released without any charges.

“Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a second bag containing a half pound of marijuana inside a backpack,” Colavolpe said in a press release. “Additional marijuana packaged for sale was located within the vehicle along with packaging materials, digital scales, and marijuana-laced brownies and rice crispy treats.”

Police seized more than 1.5 pounds of marijuana and $1,200 in cash, according to Colavolpe.

Holmes was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 19.
