Popular Italian Eatery Closes In Wallingford

A new business is expected to open soon in the former home of the Italian gourmet market and deli.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Little Italy, a popular Italian gourmet market and deli, has closed after nearly 18 years in business in the Yalesville section of Wallingford, according to the Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reported Little Italy, located at 206 Main St., initially closed for vacation but signs indicate a new business, HubSpoke Kitchen, will be opening in the space soon.

Little Italy, owned and operated by the DiChello Family, prepared its stuffed breads, sauces and products in-house “using the freshest and best ingredients,” according to its website.

“The name Little Italy was not meant to be an homage for the Italian community within the heart of Manhattan made famous by countless movies about the lives of Italian immigrants, so much as it was named out of respect for the idea of Little Italy: taking a piece of the Italian homeland and bringing it to America, bringing it to the people,” reads a post on the Little Italy website. “From their Fresh prepared meals, stone oven pizza, store label sauces to their fresh stuffed breads and pastries, it is all done with the purpose of making the dining experience a great one, as if you were a part of the family.”

HubSpoke Kitchen is a “one-stop hub for your favorite restaurants,” according to its Facebook page.
