Powder Puff Petition Aims to Move Annual Wallingford Game to the Evening

Organizers of the online petition are attempting to change the traditional start time of the annual game between Lyman Hall and Sheehan.

WALLINGFORD, CT — An online petition has been launched in an attempt to change the annual powder puff football game between Lyman Hall and Sheehan high schools from a day game to a night game.

The petition at change.org had garnered 363 supporters, as of late Tuesday night, in favor of moving the game on Wednesday, Nov. 23 from the traditional 1:30 p.m. start time to a 7 p.m. start. Organizers of the petition set a goal of 500 online signatures and will then forward it to the Board of Education.

“The moving of time from a day game to a night game would not only benefit the students, who will be able to play under the lights, but it will also benefit parents who will might be working during the day,” the petition reads. “It will also undoubtedly increase attendance. The goal is to get enough signatures from students and staff of both Lyman Hall and Mark T. Sheehan to be able to go to the Board of Education and suggest the change should be made in best interest of the students.”
