WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford school district is seeking input from all community members regarding its study of the future of Wallingford’s middle and high schools. The Board of Education is asking all community members to complete a survey on the proposed alternatives.

The options under consideration include: 1) maintaining all four current schools (both middle schools and high schools) for capital improvements at an estimated cost of $15.6 million; 2) renovating all four schools to new as defined by the state with an estimated cost of $117.2 million; 3) create one high school at Lyman Hall and renovate as new and renovate both middle schools to new as defined by the state at an estimated cost of $103.5 million.

The deadline to complete the survey is Monday, June 17. Results will be shared with the Board of Education and community on Monday, August 25.

The survey results will be shared with the Town Council with the “intended outcome being the Town Council would support the Board of Education moving forward with a second level (deeper dive) study,” according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Salvatore Menzo.

Menzo said if the Town Council supports the second-level study, the Board of Education would seek additional outside services. That report and more detailed findings would be then shared with the Board of Education and Town Council for next steps, according to Menzo.
