Purple Heart Vietnam Vet To Receive House Of Heroes Help
A 73-year-old Wallingford Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient will be the beneficiary of no-cost home repairs.

A 73-year-old Wallingford Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient will be the beneficiary of no-cost home repairs Saturday, June 27, provided by a team of volunteers from House of Heroes Connecticut (HOHCT). Work will begin at 8 a.m. at the 51 Nod Brook Road, Wallingford home of 73-year-old Anthony “Tony” Perillo.

Perillo grew up in New Haven, was drafted in 1965 during the Vietnam War and began his U.S. Army service in January 1966. He was sent to Vietnam in early 1967 and suffered life-altering combat injuries during an ambush in the fall of that year. The work at the Perillo home will include a deck refurbishment and yard clean-up. Additional plumbing work is being done today (June 26). The project is the second of the year for House of Heroes Connecticut, which is off to a late start in 2020 due to COVID-19. The organization and its volunteers are employing appropriate safety protocols.
House of Heroes Connecticut provides no-cost home repairs to military and public safety veterans (and their spouses) who are disabled, living on a fixed income, or facing other physical/financial challenges.

Saturday’s project is the organization’s 134th since the chapter’s founding in 2012, and fifth in Wallingford.
