Quinnipiac University Donates $5K in Giftcards to CT Food Bank

A recent donation will provide food for 10,000 meals in Wallingford and beyond.

Quinnipiac University officials presented $5,000 in grocery store gift cards to the Connecticut Food Bank at food drive held at the East Haven ShopRite Supermarket.

Connecticut Food Bank was Director of Community Engagement Sarah Morocco accepted the donation.

“Quinnipiac’s generosity will go a long way in feeding hungry people in our area,” Morocco said.

“The Public Safety Department at Quinnipiac University is proud to donate $5,000 to the Connecticut Food Bank,” Quinnipiac University’s Chief of Public Safety Edgar Rodriguez said. “Our department is always striving to demonstrate the strong sense of community at Quinnipiac by getting involved in activities that make an impact at the university as well in the lives of people in the greater New Haven area.”

The donation was presented at WTNH News 8 Good Morning Connecticut spring food drive, held at the ShopRite Supermarket in East Haven on Foxon Road.

“The generous support of institutions, businesses, media partners and so many people from the community are what make it possible for the Connecticut Food Bank to fulfill our mission,” Morocco said. “This generosity helped us to provide enough food last year to prepare more than 18.5 million meals.”
