Revaluation Project Begins Soon In Wallingford

Representatives from a firm hired to assist in the town-wide revaluation project will begin collecting data from homes soon in Wallingford.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Representatives from Vision Government Solutions of Hudson, Massachusetts, a firm hired by the town of Wallingford to assist in the town-wide revaluation required for the Oct. 1, 2020 Grand List, will begin collecting data from homes the week of Sept. 30, officials announced Monday.

The data collectors, or “listers,” will carry photo identification and a letter of introduction from the Assessor’s Office. A description of their cars and license plate numbers will be on file with the Wallingford Police Department and the Assessor’s Office, according to officials.

Assessor Shelby Jackson encourages homeowners to request identification before granting anyone permission to enter your home.

“During this, the initial phase of the municipal revaluation, listers will visit residential properties to physically inspect the interior and verify the measurement of a building’s exterior,” officials wrote in a press release. “Building characteristics such as location, size, age, quality of construction, improvements, topography, utilities and applicable zoning restrictions are noted. To ensure a home is inspected, a homeowner will be asked to sign a data collection form to verify the inspection.”

Officials said the entire process takes about 15 minutes. If a homeowner isn’t home, a letter will be sent to the property owner asking them to call and schedule an appointment to do the interior inspection.
