WALLINGFORD, CT — Due to tonight’s inclement weather forecast and “out of the interest of public safety,” the annual Halloween festivities on North Main Street in Wallingford will be postponed until Saturday, Nov. 2, police announced Thursday. Trick-or-treating on North Main Street has become a popular tradition in Wallingford, with the neighborhood drawing hundreds of visitors, and police have closed a section of the road in recent years for the safety of pedestrians.

“We ask that those planning on visiting that area specifically for the Halloween festivities put on by the residents do so on Saturday, Nov. 2,” Lt. Cheryl Bradley said in a press release. “On that date, North Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between North Street and the end of North Main at the north end of Dutton Park. This closure will be in effect from 5-9 p.m.

“Residents and visitors should be aware that the entirety of North Main Street will be open to normal traffic on Halloween night.”
