Road Closures, Detours Announced For Celebrate Wallingford Event

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Police announce several road closures, parking prohibitions and detours that will be in effect for all vehicular traffic during the upcoming 2018 Celebrate Wallingford festivities, which will be held during the weekend of Oct. 6 and Oct. 7. There will be new detour routes in place because the event has grown from previous years. Read more from Wallingford Police below:

Road closures are as follows:

South Main Street will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic between the intersection of Center Street, and the intersection of Prince Street, from Friday, Oct. 5 at 12 noon to Sunday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.

North Main Street will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic between the intersection of Center Street, and the intersection of Church Street, from Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.

Simpson Court will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic from Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.

Center Street (Route 150) will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic between its intersection with North/South Whittlesey Avenues and North/South Elm Streets from Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m.

Parking Prohibitions:

Parking restrictions will be in place and posted on South Main Street, North Main Street, Simpson Court, Center Street, Ward Street and Christian Street at the above noted times and locations in anticipation of the road closures and detours. Please be reminded that vehicles parked in violation of these prohibitions will be subject to the issuance of a parking ticket by police and removal by tow truck.

Detour Routes: New detour routes are in place as this event has grown from previous years.

Eastbound Center Street traffic will be detoured at North/South Whittlesey Avenues to Christian Street for traffic flowing to points east and/or northeast, and to Ward Street for traffic flowing to points east and/or southeast.

Westbound Center Street traffic will be detoured at North/South Elm Streets to Christian Street for traffic flowing to points west and/or northwest, and to Ward Street for traffic flowing to points west and/or southwest.

Northbound South Main Street traffic will be detoured at Ward Street to South Elm Street for traffic flowing to points north and/or northeast, and to South Colony Street for traffic flowing to points north and/or northwest.

Southbound North Main Street traffic will be detoured at Church Street to North Colony Street for all traffic flowing to points south.
