Rocking Rob’s Seafood Not Reopening in Wallingford

Rockin Rob's was damaged in a February fire at the plaza and has been closed ever since. A new restaurant is expected to open in its place.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Although a message written above the doors at Rockin Rob’s Seafood on East Center Street has long stated the restaurant would be “Reopening Soon” following a February fire, it is permanently closed.

A fire at the adjacent Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant in February closed both restaurants at the strip plaza due to fire and smoke damage.

Hong Kong reopened in July but Rockin Rob’s never did.

“We miss everyone so much and can't wait for this horrific journey to be over and to see everyone's smiling faces again.”

However, the Meriden Record-Journal reports that Rockin’ Rob’s owner Robert Hurowitz chose not to renew his lease earlier in the year and was looking for a career change.

The Record-Journal reports that Alton Youngs, of Middletown, plans to open Al’s Mac Shack, a similar restaurant to Rockin Rob’s, in its place and Hurowitz will assist with the opening.
