School Starts Soon, Drive Safely: Wallingford Police

Police are reminding motorists to follow the rules of the road to keep kids safe as school reopen.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford police are reminding residents that schools are reopening soon and motorists must follow the rules of the road to keep kids safe.

The first day of school is Sept. 3 and “we all need to be mindful of safe driving practices such as coming to a full stop for school buses displaying flashing red lights, obeying speed limits, using hands-free cellphone devices and being attentive to crossing guards’ efforts,” police wrote in a news release.

“Our police officers will be making a proactive and concerted effort to enforce traffic laws,” Sgt. David Blythe said. “We ask everyone to work with us to protect our community’s children by driving safely.”
