She Always Goes Above & Beyond To Assist Others: Wallingford Hero

WALLINGFORD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Just months away from her retirement, my mother, Gene has been an essential part to the Wallingford Police Department. Handling payroll and assisting in the files department, she has dedicated herself to this town for over 45 years. A mother to 2 children and a grandmother of 6, she has been a critical part in keeping our community going and working directly with officers during this pandemic. Her sacrifices to her family and work are unsurmountable! She is a loved member of our community who has always gone above and beyond to assist others. An avid bingo player, she has been continuously been working on the front line during this pandemic at the WPD and is respected and loved by all who know her. Gene is only months away from retirement, she is an amazing mother who has undoubtedly put her family and close friends first in providing support and love to all who know her well.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
My mother has always sacrificed her needs in order to care for her family and friends. Always willing and caring to do things for those around her, she deserves a special Mother's Day recognition, for not only standing steadfast on the frontline during the Covid-19 pandemic, but caring and providing for the ones she loves and works with! A true Angel in the eyes of everyone who has been blessed to know her.
