Stolen Credit Card Suspects Arrested At Restaurant In Wallingford

The suspects were arrested at a restaurant after attempting to use stolen gift cards at Walmart and fleeing on foot, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Two men accused of attempting to use stolen gift cards at Walmart were arrested at a restaurant after fleeing on foot from Walmart, according to police. At about 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 27, Wallingford Police responded to Walmart on the report of two suspects attempting to purchase items with stolen gift cards. The suspects then fled on foot heading southbound on North Colony Road.

Police later located the suspects in an area restaurant and they were found to be in possession of 11 Visa Gift Cards that were re-encoded with information belonging to other people’s accounts, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley. The suspects were also found to be in the possession of four Walmart gift cards.

Police arrested Jose Cardenos, 21, of no known address and Marco Munoz, 24, of Lloyd Street in New Haven. Both were charged with sixth-degree larceny, 11 counts of unlawful reproduction of a credit card, 11 counts of theft of a credit card, three counts of receiving goods by illegal use of a credit card and three counts of illegal use of a credit card.

Cardenos was held on a $100,000 bond and Munoz was held on a $50,000 bond. Both were issued a court date of Nov. 10 at Meriden Superior Court.
