Suspects Spent $4K With Fake Credit Cards At Walmart: Police

3 people were arrested after police say they bought more than $4,000 worth of electronics with fake credit cards at Walmart in Wallingford.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Three people were arrested Tuesday night after police say they purchased more than $4,000 worth of electronics from Walmart with counterfeit credit cards. Police were called to the Walmart on North Colony Road in Wallingford at about 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 for a suspicious purchase that was taking place, according to Sgt. Brian Nowek.

Nowek said a combined investigation by the patrol and detective divisions determined that three suspects purchased more than $4,000 worth of electronics with multiple counterfeit credit cards. The suspects were apprehended while they were attempting to leave the Walmart parking lot with the stolen merchandise in their vehicle, according to Nowek.

Police arrested Mariah Nunn, 22, of Groton, Tyra Barber, 22, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Pierre Louis, 34, of Philadelphia, Pa. They were each charged with payment card theft, third-degree larceny, third-degree identity theft, receiving goods obtained by illegal use of a payment card, along with conspiracy to commit all charges.

Nunn and Barber were each held on $50,000 bonds and Louis was held on a $75,000 bond pending arraignment at Meriden Superior Court on Feb. 14.
