T. Wayne Plunske, 87, of Wallingford; Founder of Plunske's Garage

T. Wayne Plunske, 87, of Wallingford, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Montowese Health Center.

He was born in Meriden, October 31, 1927, a son of the late Theodore Plunske and Mae Mason and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. In 1949 Wayne founded Plunske’s Garage in Wallingford where he was still actively working alongside his sons. He enjoyed taking his 1965 Lincoln and his favorite wrecker #3 to car shows. He could often be seen eating at his favorite local restaurants or at the casino on Thursdays. Wayne was a member of the Libero Pensiero Society.

He is survived by his three children, Janet Plunske Firulli of Meriden, and Daniel W. Plunske and James A. Plunske both of Wallingford; his three grandchildren, James P. Plunske and his wife Melanie, Jonathan M. Plunske and his wife Kristen, and Valerie L. Plunske; his great grandchildren, Vanessa and Devyn Plunske; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Cleone (Dringoli) Plunske; two brothers; and two sisters.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Thursday, March 5, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street,, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
