Tax Relief Program Available for Elderly and Disabled Homeowners
Still haven't filed your taxes? Wallingford's tax assessor said certain residents could be eligible for relief.

Wallingford residents who are ages 65 and older or are totally disabled as of Dec. 31 are eligible to apply for property tax relief.
The federal tax program, which has been running since Feb. 1, is still available for applicants from now until May 15. You must own and reside, or hold life-use of property, in Wallingford, according to a notice from the tax assessor’s office.
Annual income (including Social Security) cannot exceed:

- Single $33,500 for the year 2012.
- Married couples $40,900 combined for the year 2012.
If you apply you must bring the following proof of income:
- Federal income tax return (a copy must be presented if filed).
- Social Security benefit statement SSA-1099 or TPQY.
- Proo of income from all sources (wages, bonuses, commissions, fees, lottery wings, annuities, pensions, dividens, net proceeds from sales of property).
