Teenager Accused of Stealing Two Cars, Wreaking Havoc in Wallingford

The 17-year-old boy also allegedly crashed into a police cruiser and hit a fire hydrant all in the same day.

Wallingford police arrested a 17-year-old boy who is accused of stealing two cars in one day, crashing into a police cruiser and hitting a fire hydrant which caused a massive geyser, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC reports that police observed a BMW going the wrong way on Hall Avenue Sunday morning and officers attempted to stop the car but the driver backed up and hit the police cruiser and then sped off and eventually hit a fire hydrant at Center and North Elm streets.

The BMW had been reported stolen from Hamden earlier in the day.

Police later located the teen, who had fled from the fire hydrant scene, running through the neighborhood near Academy Street. Prior to apprehending the teen, police observed a blue Acura TL leaving a driveway on North Elm Street and driving the wrong way on Academy Street, according to NBC.

The car had been stolen from the driveway and the teen had the keys on him when he was taken into police custody, according to NBC.
