Teens, Men Charged With Vandalizing, Burglarizing Business In Wallingford: Police

Police arrested multiple suspects after responding to a vandalism/burglary report early Friday morning.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Two men and three teens are accused of vandalizing and burglarizing the Allegheny Ludlum Steel building early Friday morning in Wallingford, according to police. At about 5:15 a.m. on June 2, Wallingford Police were dispatched to Allegheny Ludlum Steel, 80 Valley Street, on the report of individuals vandalizing the interior of the building.

Arriving officers located several broken windows and saw several broken pieces of electronics, according to Lt. Michael Colavolpe. (To sign up for Wallingford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

“In addition, several rooms within the building were vandalized with writing on the walls and items within the rooms were broken,” Colavolpe said in a press release. “The dollar value of the damage is unknown at this time. Additionally, several tools were stolen from the building which were later recovered.”

Additional officers responding to the scene located a 16-year-old juvenile and Alyssa Bowers, 18, running in an adjacent field away from the Allegheny building, according to Colavolpe. The two individuals were taken into custody and police learned two additional suspects may have run to Bowers’ residence on West Street, which is located in the same neighborhood as the Allegheny building, Colavolpe said.

Bowers believed the two suspects may have broken into her residence to hide from the police, according to Colavolpe.

“While officers were attempting to make contact with the residents (on West Street), they recognized a 15-year-old juvenile subject from previous police encounters inside,” Colavolpe said. “Officers were able to gain entry and took the juvenile into custody.”

An additional suspect, 20-year-old Jose Cardona was located hiding in a closet inside the residence, according to Colavolpe. The resident confirmed to police that the juvenile and Cardona didn’t live there and they didn’t have permission to be inside the residence.

A short time later, a fifth suspect, 21-year-old David Locklear, was located at his residence on South Street, which is also in the same neighborhood as the Allegheny building, according to Colavolpe. Locklear was taken into custody without incident.

Alyssa Bowers

Bowers was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit for both charges. She was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on June 12.

Jose Cardona

Cardona, who currently resides on Westfield Street in West Haven, was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit the previous charges. He was released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on June 12.

David Locklear

Locklear was charged with third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on June 12.

The 16-year-old juvenile was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit charges. Colavolpe said the juvenile was additionally charged with a second count of first-degree criminal mischief after kicking out the rear window of a police cruiser that they were being transported in.

The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit charges.
