Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust In Wallingford: Police

Police say the driver, who was exiting the wrong way from a parking lot, was found to be in the possession of drugs and $2,800 in cash.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A New Haven man was arrested after police say he was found to be in the possession of drugs and $2,800 in cash during a traffic stop Saturday in Wallingford. Police say the traffic stop was conducted when the officer saw a vehicle exiting the wrong way from a parking lot on North Colony Road at about 5 p.m. on July 13.

During the ensuing investigation, with the assistance of Wallingford Police K-9 Tate, police seized 17.5 grams of crack cocaine, 22.4 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and approximately $2,800 in cash that was “believed to be derived from narcotic sales,” according to police.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Gene Walker Jr. of New Haven, was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics (crack cocaine), possession with intent to sell narcotics (crack cocaine), possession of marijuana (over 1/2 ounce / under 4 ounces), illegal possession of drug paraphernalia, interfering with an officer and improper entry of a highway.

Walker was held on a $10,000 bond with a court date of July 26.
